An Independent Music Teacher Retires

While searching for something else, I stumbled across a lovely tribute to Jackie Krapf of Danville, IL who is retiring after 56 years as an independent piano teacher.

Krapf has taught three generations of students in some families, and has also taught all of the siblings in many families. "I have former students who live all over the country and are teaching and performing music," she said. "Some of them have done extremely well in their careers."

Independent piano teachers are seldom feted at company parties or given gold watches when they retire. They're not usually the subjects of newspaper features either. It's nice to see that this well-loved teacher is being appreciated for the impact she's made on the life of her community and the lives of her students. Congratulations, Mrs. Krapf!
